Students can opt out of the remaining ICSE exams- Board to Bombay High Court

Maharashtra government took a phenomenal step and informed the Bombay High Court that under the present circumstances, ICSE board cannot be permitted to conduct the 10th and 12th board exams in July. The rapid increase of the COVID-19 virus all over with the country, with Maharashtra leading ahead than other states, there is a high risk of thousands of students getting infected during the gatherings. The government have also decided not to conduct the final year exams of its own university in the current circumstances. The statement was submitted by the Maharashtragovernment after the high court had asked them to clarify regarding the cancellation of the pending ICSE 2020 exams.



While the plea regarding ISCE has been finally clarified to a certain extent in the latest proceedings of the court, a similar plea regarding dismissing remaining CBSE exams from 1st July to 15th July has also been submitted.

Advocate general Asutosh Kumbhakoni who appeared on behalf of the state government stated that the decision was taken by the government on Tuesday regarding not allowing ICSE Board to conduct the pending exams during this situation, especially as the number of infected are rapidly on the rise every day. The decision was taken in a meeting of the state disaster management committee that was headed by the chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray, as stated by the advocate. He also informed the state have cancelled all the pending semester exams due to the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic situation of the state.

Before the hearing on Wednesday, ISCE board had informed the Supreme Court during a similar hearing that it will follow the decision taken by the CBSE board regarding all the exams that are pending. Parents have filed a similar petition at the apex court challenging CBSE’s decision to conduct the pending exams. The hearing of that session have been adjourned till 25th June and CBSE is expected to declare their decision in the meantime.

  • Click the link and a PDF file will open. Save the PDF File.
  • Using ctrl+F find your name and roll number in this file. It contains the name and roll number of all the qualified candidates. Hence, someone who did not qualify will not be able to find their credentials.

  • In case your credentials are there, you are eligible for tier II and will receive the notification shortly for application.
In short, a tussle is still on regarding the decision on pending board exams and students can expect a concrete decision anytime soon.
